housing a collection of plants native to the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Our
admission is free, but donations are appreciated and memberships are encouraged.

Western North Carolina Orchid Society

The North Carolina Arboretum is a
434-acre public garden located within the
Bent Creek Experimental
Forest of the Pisgah National
Forest. Surrounded by the dense folds of the botanically diverse
Southern Appalachian Mountains, the Arboretum is nestled in one of the most
beautiful natural garden settings in America.

The AHS is organized exclusively for educational
and scientific purposes, and especially to promote, encourage, and foster

NCDOT, Roadside Environmental Unit, Wildflowers on NC Roadsides This
site is intended as a reference to identify the wildflowers planted by the
North Carolina Department of Transportation as well as some of the naturally

Plants of North Carolina The Vascular Flora of North Carolina Plants
are listed alphabetically(Latin) by genera. Many of the plants are shown
with Latin names only. Common names are not always available for every plant
and can also be very confusing as the same name may be given to many
different species.
NC Native Plant Society The
purpose of the Society is to promote enjoyment and conservation of native
plants and their habitats through education, protection, and propagation.
